NFL Pro Day 2016: New York Giants Watch These 5 Dark Horse Prospects
By Neal Lynch
5. Lars Hanson – T, Sacramento State Hornets
Hanson, who is most definitely not pictured above, stands at around 6 feet 8 inches, and somewhere in the range of 290 – 310 pounds depending on the day and the media outlet. This is as about as dark of a darkhorse as prospects get. I didn’t even know Sacramento State existed before his name popped up on WalterFootball.
According to his bio on the Sac State athletics site:
In 2015, Hanson was a team captain who earned honorable mention all-Big Sky honors and ended his career by starting 39 consecutive games.
In 2014, he helped pave the way for an offense that set school single-season records with 5,780 yards (481.7 per game) and 458 points (38.2 per game).
According to Pauline, “Nine teams, including the Detroit Lions, Cincinnati Bengals, Green By Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, Cleveland Browns, Giants, San Francisco 49ers, Atlanta Falcons and Washington Redskins, traveled to Sacramento to watch massive offensive tackle Lars Hanson work out” on March 15th.
Niners Nation asked him if he’s talked with any scouts and the big man replied that he had dinner with the Cincinnati Bengals and lunch with the Detroit Lions.
You would think the Denver Broncos would be interested in Lars since they’re having trouble re-signing Ryan Clady and had free agent Russell Okung visit. Plus, Hanson’s a Orange Crush fan:
