2. Plaxico Burress

Approximate Value w/ Giants: 39

Average Approximate Value per Season: 11

Plaxico played five seasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers before signing with the Giants prior to the 2005 season. He would play in 57 games for Big Blue, starting 55 over four seasons, catching 244 passes for 3,481 yards and 33 touchdowns. His first season with the G-Men, in 2005, would be his best as he caught 76 for more than 1,200 yards and 7 touchdowns. The last two seasons weren’t that bad either as he tallied double-digit touchdowns. All in all, Burress’ time with the Giants resulted in four straight trips to the postseason, two NFC East titles and a Super Bowl ring. Through 10 games in 2008, he was on pace to have another solid year before he shot himself in the leg, ending his Giants tenure and significantly impacting his bid for the Hall of Fame. If he’d finished out the 2008 season and played in 2009 and 2010, he’d be over the 10,000 yard mark that is essential for the gold jacket and bust in Canton.
