The New York Giants will wear “new” uniforms in 2016, according to a screenshot pulled from the Instagram account of the team’s equipment manager Joseph Skiba, which, as of publish, is set to private.

Skiba’s Twitter account is also set to private, but with multiple outlets reporting on it, the screenshot must be legit. Big Blue View thinks the new uniforms will be the Color Rush versions since every NFL team must wear them within two years and the Giants have yet to. While everyone on Earth hates the Color Rush, I love it as long as Big Blue steers clear of the “Cursed Reds”. As any Giants fan can remember, the alternate third jersey, which was red, was introduced in 2004, worn until 2007, and resulted in a horrible record. According to Heritage Sports Art:

"“This jersey is reminiscent of the jersey the team wore in the 1940’s and shown in our 1945 painting. Also present on this jersey, as well as the home blue jersey, is a commemorative patch that celebrates the franchise’s 80th anniversary. This 3rd jersey was worn only at home, and it was worn with their gray home pants.”"

Big Blue View also ran a poll asking fans to vote on which color the Giants should choose for their Color Rush scheme and “Big Blue” was winning with “Manhattan Grey” coming in second and “Cursed Reds” in third.

Blogging Big Blue hinted at a throwback to the ’90s, though the Super XXV (1990) championship team anniversary would’ve been celebrated last year. If the Giants were to wear throwback uniforms, it would be for the Super Bowl XXI (1986) championship team, which the organization should be honoring all season long.

The organization would have fans far and wide throwing money at them if they were to release ’86 jerseys for current players. Then have the fanbase don their newly acquired ’86 alternates to a key divisional game in December in what could be a division title, playoff berth, or home field advantage clincher and have the team wear the ’86 alternates as well.

Giants.com has a timeline of the franchise’s uniform history. The team’s last major uniform overhaul in 2000 resulted in a NFC championship. The throwback uniforms for the league’s 75th anniversary saw rookie Dave Brown almost rally the squad to a playoff berth with last season flourish. The white pants worn at home in place of the greys arrived in 2013 and we saw what happened there – Eli Manning threw a career high in interceptions, but the defense was a top 10 unit thanks to facing some horrendous offenses.

Joseph Skiba, who won the Whitey Zimmerman Equipment Manager of the Year Award in 2012, appears to be a reliable source for Giants uniform news as he leaked that the Giants could be wearing alternate pants for the 2013 season back in April 2012 when Nike unveiled their new NFL uniforms.

Skiba was also involved in the alleged counterfeit lawsuit brought against Eli and the Giants in 2014, which is still ongoing but appears to be winding down.
