#7 Mark Herzlich, OLB (28)

2016 Cap Hit: $1,400,000

Mark Herzlich re-signed with the Giants in 2015 to a 2 year contract that included a $400,000 signing bonus and an average annual salary of $1,300,000. In 2016, Herzlich will earn a base salary of $1,000,000, a roster bonus of $150,000 and a workout bonus of $50,000. Herzlich has a cap hit of $1,400,000 while his dead money value is $200,000.

Herzlich saw limited time in 2015 after a career year in 2014, in which he had more than 50 combined tackles and a sack in 300+ snaps. Last season, he only totaled 17 combined tackles over four starts. Seen more as a clubhouse guy who works hard on special teams, Herzlich will continue to back up Jonathan Casillas, Devon Kennard, and J.T. Thomas.

This is more than just a make or break year for Mark, but for the linebacking position as a whole. Is Kennard really the future? Will Casillas and Thomas do enough to stick around? Fortunately, the supporting cast has been elevated and the unit should flourish.
