2. Rosey Grier, Penn State Nittany Lions (1955)

The Giants selected Penn State defensive lineman 31st overall in the 3rd round of the 1955 NFL Draft. Grier made the 100th anniversary list of 100 most influential student athletes.

Rosey played sevens seasons for the G-Men, from 1955 – 1962, missing the 1957 season. He was a two-time Pro Bowler in 1956 and 1960 and a first-team All-Pro in 1956. That year, he also was 1st-team All-NFL for the UPI, Sporting News, New York Daily News, and Associated Press, in addition to second-team All-NFL by the Newspaper Entertainment Association.

In 1958, he was 1st-team All-NFL for the Sporting News and 2nd-team for the AP. The next year in 1959, he was second-team All-NFL for the UPI and AP. The following season, he was first-team All-NFL for the Sporting News. The New York Daily News gave him 2nd=team honors in 1961 and the Sporting News gave him 1st-team All-Conference honors in ’62.

During his time with Big Blue, he helped the team to a NFL Championship in 1956 and the Eastern Conference Championship in 1958, 1959, 1961 and 1962.
