10. Jeff Hostetler, WVU Moutaineers (1984)

Games: 91
Approximate Value: 24
Average AV Per Season: 4

The Giants selected Jeff Hostetler out of West Virginia 59th overall in the 3rd round of the 1984 NFL Draft, one slot after Nicholls State linebacker Johnny Meads to the Houston Oilers and a few picks ahead of Washington State defensive end Eric Williams to the Detroit Lions and TCU linebacker Kyle Clifton to the New York Jets.

After two years at Penn State, Jeff transferred to West Virginia, where in 1983, his senior year, Hostetler finished in the top four among quarterbacks at 23 independent schools in pass completions, completion percentage, passing yards, yards per attempt, and passing efficiency rating.

In seven seasons with the Giants, Hostetler started 25 games out the 91 he played in, accumulating a 16-9 record and more than 4,400 passing yards with 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Without Hostetler, there’s no doubt Big Blue wouldn’t have gotten to Super Bowl XXV much less win it.

Jeff made our list of the Top 10 Giants quarterbacks of all-time.
