5. Dick Nolan – DB, Maryland Terrapins

Games: 76
Seasons w/ Giants: 7

Nolan was a quarterback in high school, but was converted to a defensive back at Maryland. Dick received honorable-mention All-American honors as a senior and was a key contributor to the school’s 1953 championship team.

Drafted by the New York Giants in the 4th round (41st overall) of the 1954 NFL Draft, a few slots after Washington took his teammate at Maryland, Ralph Felton, a few picks before the Lions picked UCLA back Bill Stits, and a round before the Green Bay Packers selected Tulane end Max McGee.

In seven seasons with the G-Men, Nolan had 18 interceptions (placing him in the top 20 in franchise history) and four fumble recoveries. Dick’s five interceptions in 1959 was sixth most in the league.
