Average AV Per Season: 7
Drafted by the New York Giants in the 5th round (120th overall) of the 1978 NFL Draft, a few picks after the Green Bay Packers picked college teammate Mike Douglass and a round before the Detroit Lions selected Michigan Wolverines defensive back Dwight Hicks.
In six seasons with Big Blue, Jackson started 73 of 75 games played and had 24 interceptions (two of which were returned for touchdowns), and seven fumble recoveries. Jackson’s seven interceptions in his rookie season was 6th most in the league while his four picks in 1982 was 8th highest in the NFL. Terry’s most valuable season came in 1981 when the Giants defense – led by the Crunch Bunch – made the playoffs for the first time in more than a decade.
Terry made our Giants All-Rookie Team for leading the G-Men in interceptions his first year in the league and is considered one of the top 10 Giants cornerbacks in franchise history. Jackson also tied for the team lead in interceptions in 1979 and was tops in picks on the team in the strike-shortened 1982 season.
