Round 6 Pick 9: Jerell Adams (TE, South Carolina)
“The Giants have been searching for a complete catching and blocking tight end ever since they let Martellus Bennett walk. Adams reportedly can do both, but mostly flew under the scouting radar due to an underperforming Gamecocks team. If Adams develops well, he could be quite the steal.”
Steve Curry: A
“Keeping tunnel vision on his speed and athletic capability, Adams is New York’s steal of the draft. Although, someone being generally mocked for the second round and dropping to the sixth raises eyebrows in itself. Is it due to the tight end class as whole being weaker and allowing Adams to get lost in the shuffle, or is it blatantly because Adams couldn’t impose his physical tools on the box score more threateningly in college? He’ll need to double his attention paid towards mental adaptation to succeed in this league compared to his physical preparation. In yet another overstuffed position battle heading into the summer, the video game version of Adams can make a dent in this roster, but don’t hold your breath too long.”
Michael Luca: B
