2002

Carter only played in five games for the Miami Dolphins, starting one. He had 8 catches for 66 yards and one touchdown. It would be his final year in the league.

The Giants went 10-6 and lost to the 49ers in one of the worst blown leads in playoff history. There’s a very slight chance that Cris Carter would’ve had a calming effect on the team. Maybe his veteran presence prevents the G-Men from melting down on both sides of the ball and Big Blue escapes with a win. However, the Giants wouldn’t have stood a chance against the Bucs who steamrolled to a Lombardi trophy.

CONCLUSIONS:

  • Head Coach Bill Parcells would NOT have left the team after the 1990 Super Bowl winning season.
  • The Giants would’ve made the playoffs in 1991.
  • Big Blue would’ve gone 14-2 in 1993, secured the #1 seed and home-field advantage in the playoffs, and won the Super Bowl over the Kansas City Chiefs, instead of the Cowboys winning over the Bills.
  • Bill Parcells would’ve retired or moved on after the 1993 season.
  • Bill Belichick would’ve become Giants head coach before the 1994 season.
  • The G-Men would’ve made the playoffs in 1994 and 1995.
  • The Giants would not have lost to the Vikings in the Wild Card Round of the 1997 playoffs.
  • Big Blue would’ve made the playoffs in 1998 and 2001.
  • The G-Men would still have lost the 2000 Super Bowl to the Ravens, but it would’ve been a little closer margin of defeat.
  • The Giants would not have lost the 2002 NFC Wild Card game to the 49ers.
