New York Giants fall in NFL Week 4 Power Ranks

The New York Giants have slipped in the NFL Week 4 Power Ranks thanks to a tough home loss to the Washington Redskins.

After steady gains from the preseason and through Week 3 of the regular season, the Giants find themselves falling on the NFL Week 4 Power Ranks chart.

A tough loss will do that, especially one to a lesser Washington Redskins team in a game the Giants seemed to have in hand. The aftermath hasn’t been pretty.

Big blue is dealing with mild controversy after Odell Beckham’s sideline outburst. Shane Vereen is sidelined indefinitely and the Giants may be without Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Eli Apple and Darian Thompson next week.

The Giants have fallen to 16 on the NFL’s list, down three spots from last week. And things can get even worse next week when they travel to meet the Minnesota Vikings.

NFL:

New York Giants. 16. team. 31. “What was he seeing there?”-style picks from Eli Manning on Sunday. For years, the Manning apologists have explained away his three seasons leading the league in interceptions. Statistically speaking, bad luck can lead a quarterback to pacing the league in picks. But three times? The last turnover was the game-decider, when it seemed Manning didn’t catch Su’a Cravens roaming over the middle. Next week the Giants visit Minnesota. Remember that matchup last year? Don’t.”. . Previous: 13th

New York Giants. 16. team. 31. “There’s no question the Giants suffered a disappointing loss against the Redskins, but divisional matchups are always expected to be tough in the NFC East. The defense came back down to earth, and Eli Manning committed too many turnovers. The running game will now be without Shane Vereen — which certainly hurts — but getting Rashad Jennings back will ease the burden.”

ESPN:

15. team. 31. “If it seems like every Giants game comes down to the final drive, it’s because most do. The Giants have played nine games decided by three or fewer points the past two seasons, including all three this season, most in the NFL. The Giants head to Minnesota for a Week 4 game on Monday night.”. . Previous: 12th. New York Giants

Win first, let pundits debate the NFL Power Ranks second. Big Blue’s defense needs to rebound against Sam Bradford. Last season, that may have been a stronger possibility. Today, he’s found a home with the Vikings and an elite weapon in WR Stefon Diggs. Without Adrian Peterson, the Vikings haven’t missed a beat.

Big Blue needs to establish the run and wear down the Vikings vaunted defensive line if Eli Manning is going to get comfortable in the pocket.
