Martellus Bennett

Age: 29 (3/10/1987)
Experience: 9 Seasons
2016 Season Statistics: 10 GP, 55 REC, 701 YDS, 7 TD, 31 FD

Martellus Bennett has become one of the most productive tight ends in the NFL. He’s recorded at least 50 receptions in five consecutive seasons and has accumulated at least 600 yards and five touchdowns in four of the past five years.

If the New York Giants are open to a reunion, then signing Bennett would be a power move that would effectively solidify the offense.

In 2016, Bennett ranked No. 14 amongst tight ends in receptions, No. 9 in receiving yards, and No. 3 in touchdowns. He did so while splitting catches with Rob Gronkowski for eight games and playing in one of the most balanced offenses in the NFL.

Now a free agent, Tom Rock of Newsday reports that Bennett publicly acknowledged his love for the Giants as an organization.

"“I love the Giants,” he said. “That was one of my favorite organizations. A lot of guys have been on the same team for so long so they always ask me about other organizations, and I always tell them how awesome the Giants were."

In other words: the Giants have a legitimate opportunity to sign Bennett and bring his elite production back to New York.

Bennett isn’t known for his blocking ability, but he’s one of the best receivers at his position. He can make plays vertically, bail his quarterback out on short and intermediate routes, and make plays in the red zone.

This depends almost entirely on the cost, but Bennett loves the Giants organization and would be the perfect addition to the current offense.
