T.J. Lang

Position: Guard
Age: 29 (9/20/1987)
Experience: Seven Seasons
Previous Team: Green Bay Packers

One of the most underreported truths in the NFL is that Aaron Rodgers played behind one of the most inconsistent offensive lines imaginable. It’s stabilized in recent years, but for quite some time, it was a legitimate weakness.

One of the most consistent players on the Green Bay Packers’ offensive line since 2009 is now available as a free agent: guard T.J. Lang.

Lang is a veteran who was named to the Pro Bowl in 2016 and won the Super Bowl in 2010-11. Now 29 years of age, he brings a wealth of experience, a championship pedigree, and a history of blocking for a high-level quarterback to the open market.

If the New York Giants are inclined to sign an offensive guard during the 2017 offseason, then it would be hard to blame Jerry Reese for targeting Lang.

Lang isn’t great in run protection, but he’s one of the best guards in the NFL in blocking for the pass. Rodgers has a tendency to hold onto the ball for longer than most, yet Lang still managed to not allow a single sack or hit in 2016.

Lang is widely regarded as one of the premier guards in the NFL, and if the Giants are willing to pay a considerable price, he would make life easier for Eli Manning in 2017.
