Sign Jason Pierre-Paul To A Long-Term Deal

Recently, the New York Giants placed the exclusive franchise tag on Jason Pierre-Paul. This move is basically a one-year deal for $17 million. The first move the Giants need to make is finding common ground with JPP on a long-term deal.

A deal would provide the Giants with some cap relief, since they have limited cap space at the moment. The deal would also be good for Pierre-Paul, who has battled through a tragic hand injury to set himself up for one last mega contract.

With Eli Manning’s skills deteriorating before our very eyes, there are only a few offseasons left as a contender. Having the most financial freedom to upgrade the roster should be the main goal of the front office.

The key will be to manage the financial situation while keeping the defensive core together. That starts and ends with Pierre-Paul receiving a long-term deal to reduce what would be a near $17 million dollar cap hit.

This moves would make both parties happy.
