2. Red Zone Target

Odell Beckham Jr. is one of the best players in the NFL when it comes to finding the end zone. Amongst rookies, Sterling Shepard was one of the most reliable red zone threats in the league during the 2016 season.

With Brandon Marshall added to the receiving corps, however, the New York Giants now have a red zone target who can be targeted based on his size and catch radius alone.

Between 2012 and 2015, Marshall recorded 45 receiving touchdowns in a four-season span. He recorded 11 in 2012, 12 in 2013, and 14 in 2015, and had eight receiving touchdowns in 13 games played in 2014.

Though he only recorded three touchdowns in 2016, the New York Jets’ quarterbacks combined for 16 touchdowns and 25 interceptions.

With Eli Manning running the show, Marshall should be able to do what he does best and win jump balls against elite cornerbacks. Beckham is certainly capable of doing so, but Marshall has a natural gift that Beckham doesn’t: elite size.

With three established options in the red zone, the Giants’ passing attack will be as unpredictable as ever during the 2017 season.
