1. Fitting The Scheme

It stands to reason that the New York Giants are going to run an abundance of sets with three wide receivers. Odell Beckham Jr. and Brandon Marshall are high-volume playmakers, and Sterling Shepard has that same potential in the slot.

Some may question whether or not Christian McCaffrey can be a traditional running back, but in sets with three players out wide, he could exploit opposing defenses.

Statistically, McCaffrey ran for 2,019 yards in 2015 and 1,603 yards in 2016. Though he endured a slight decline in rushing yards between his sophomore and junior seasons, he also saw an increase from eight touchdowns in 2015 to 13 in 2016.

Statistics don’t necessarily tell the whole story, but McCaffrey has proven capable of running between the tackles against a high level of competition.

With three high-quality wide receivers on the field, McCaffrey will have the space to operate and capitalize on openings. Some have questioned his strength, but his vision as a runner, as well as his athleticism and ability to hit the hole, are both elite.

Alongside Perkins, who has superior strength and size, McCaffrey could provide the athletic burst necessary to create a balanced and flourishing rushing attack.
