New York Giants: Is Eli Manning Worthy Of The Hall of Fame?
Eli Manning is a two-time Super Bowl MVP, but is that enough to overcome his largely inconsistent regular season play and earn him a trip to Canton?
Eli Manning isn’t a normal quarterback. He’s not a superstar, and yet, he’s not not a superstar. Do you get what I’m saying?
In order to determine if Manning is going to make it into the Hall of Fame, we have to compare him to the necessary players. These players are the guys who’s careers most closely match Manning’s.
We then see if those players are already in, or will be in, the Hall of Fame.
The problem with this method is that there are two “Elis” we need to account for. There is regular season Eli, who has the appeal of an un-marinated, boiled chicken breast, and then there’s playoff Eli, who is nothing less than a big, juicy piece of filet mignon.
In order to try and analyze this crap-shoot, I’m going to be looking into four different categories: Regular Season Winning Percentage (minimum 90 games), Passer Rating, Number of Fourth Quarter Comebacks, and Postseason Statistics and Accolades.
These categories give an equal representation of a quarterback’s overall ability and his ability to play under pressure.
