Former New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs pulled no punches when discussing Lonzo Ball, LaVar Ball, and the Big Baller Brand.
Brandon Jacobs could be fairly regarded as a legend of New York Giants football. No matter the detraction that critics may harp upon, he played an instrumental role in each of the Giants’ two most recent Super Bowl runs.
As an individual who knows quite a bit about what it takes to win as a professional athlete, it’s hardly surprising that he was asked about the most controversial name in sports: LaVar Ball.
Ball has become, perhaps, the most polarizing figure in the vast world of sports. Some herald him for being an engaged and involved parent, while others fear that he may alienate those who will be giving his son an opportunity to make a living in the NBA.
During a recent appearance on Sports Illustrated’s The Crossover, Jacobs tore into Lonzo Ball and his father for their new sneaker and overall antics.

That’s a passionate anti-Ball speech from an individual who knows what it takes to succeed as a professional athlete.
For those unfamiliar, Lonzo Ball is a projected Top-2 selection in the 2017 NBA Draft. He’s garnered comparisons to future Hall of Fame point guard Jason Kidd, who became an icon of his era with his size, court vision, and defensive prowess.
If basketball ability were the only topic worth discussing, then it would be safe to assume that Ball will be in the running for the No. 1 overall selection in the 2017 NBA Draft.
As Jacobs alluded to in the above video, however, basketball is far from the only topic of conversation when it comes to Lonzo Ball.
Ball himself hasn’t commanded negative attention, but his father has divided a sports nation. LaVar Ball has been outspoken, to say the least, as he’s publicly stated that he’d beat Michael Jordan one-on-one in their respective primes, and that his son is already better than Stephen Curry.
The latest source of controversy—the release of a $495 debut shoe—has pushed Jacobs over the edge.
