New York Giants: Ereck Flowers making significant progress
New York Giants offensive tackle Ereck Flowers has undergone an extraordinary body transformation. He’s already seeing results on the practice field.
Few players will face more pressure during the 2017 NFL season than New York Giants offensive tackle Ereck Flowers. The former first-round draft pick is the piece who will either complete the construction of a championship-caliber offense or leave fans wondering what could have been.
As he approaches a season that will define his legacy as a Giants player, Flowers is doing everything in his power to justify the hype.
Flowers’ weight loss has been one of the hottest topics of the 2017 offseason. Whether he’s wearing a hoodie on a day with the temperature in the mid-90s or simply showing off his toned frame, the former Miami Hurricanes star is looking the part of the star he’s capable of becoming.
For those who haven’t yet seen his remarkable weight loss:
According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN’s NFL Nation, Flowers views his weight loss as just another step in his development into the player he’s capable of becoming.
"“I see different things with my technique that I have to improve on,” Flowers said. “Just continue to go out there and work. That’s all I’m thinking about.”"
Flowers still needs to do it on Sundays, but his work ethic is commendable.
The Giants finished the 2017 NFL regular season with what Pro Football Focus called the worst combination of offensive tackles in the league. Some of that rests on right tackle Bobby Hart, but Ereck Flowers wasn’t much better on Eli Manning’s blindside.
Pro Football Focus graded Flowers as the No. 57 offensive tackle in the NFL, as well as the No. 64 offensive tackle in pass protection.
With a 36-year-old Eli Manning under center, Flowers will need to execute at a significantly higher level in 2017.
New York has the personnel to be the boast the most explosive passing attack in the NFL—bar none. Odell Beckham Jr. and Brandon Marshall are All-Pro wide receivers, Sterling Shepard had an excellent rookie season in the slot, and Evan Engram has upside at tight end.
Running backs Paul Perkins and Shane Vereen are capable playmakers out of the backfield, as well, which gives Manning a surplus of options.

In order for the passing attack to realize its potential, however, Ereck Flowers and the offensive line must step up for the New York Giants.
So far, so good.
