2. Converting on Third Down

It sounds simple, but Big Blue finished fifth worst in terms of third down efficiency last season (35 percent). The Giants stayed true to form in the season opener, converting just 33% (4-12) of third downs against the Cowboys. Failing to sustain long drives puts added pressure on the defense, causing it to wear down during the course of a game.

Getting into more third-and-manageable situations will help the offense string together more first downs and ultimately, score points. Head coach Ben McAdoo’s play-calling has been under scrutiny this week, and rightly so. Keep an eye on his play selections on second and third down.
