Gallman is averaging 4.1 yards per carry on 63 totes through 11 games. The rookie running back out of Clemson has proven himself a dual-threat out of the backfield, catching 14 passes for 61 yards and a touchdown. But that doesn’t mean he’s a long-term solution for Big Blue.

The Giants selected running back Paul Perkins in the fifth-round of the 2016 draft, and his rookie numbers look quite similar to Gallman’s numbers at this point of the season. Perkins averaged 4.1 yards per carry as well in his rookie year, but the second-year running back has not received a touch in 2017 since early October.

Reese has a poor history when it comes to drafting running backs. His best running back draft selection came back in his first year as general manager when he selected Ahmad Bradshaw in the seventh-round of the 2007 draft. Since then, Reese has selected running backs Andre Brown, Da’Rel Scott, David Wilson, Michael Cox, Andre Williams, Perkins, and now Gallman.

None have proven themselves to be a mainstay in New York’s backfield.
