With the offensive line coming together in free agency, the Giants could turn their attention to the defensive side of the ball.

In this scenario, New York would have little cap space after signing Solder. Big Blue would have to let the market determine cornerback Ross Cockrell and linebacker Devon Kennard’s value before attempting to re-sign them in free agency.

Signing a couple veterans to one-year deals at cornerback, linebacker, and defensive end will likely be New York’s best option.

The Giants still have plenty of talent on the defensive side of the ball returning in 2018, and surely can’t afford to spend big money on multiple free agents with Odell Beckham Jr. and Landon Collins entering the final year of their contracts.

Targeting players like Kevin Minter or Connor Barwin on one-year deals could be ideal for Big Blue and New York’s new defensive coordinator.
