5 underrated New York Giants to watch for in 2018
Josh Mauro, DL
The Giants were well aware of Josh Mauro’s impending four-game suspension before signing the free-agent defensive end to a one-year deal.
If there is a silver lining to Mauro’s PED issue, it’s that his price tag was knocked down to a bargain base salary.
What the Giants are getting in return is of much higher value with the 27-year-old having plenty of experience in defensive coordinator James Bettcher’s defense.
In his past three seasons in Arizona, Mauro has played in 42 games and started 24. Used all over the defensive line, his size and length at 6-6 and 282 pounds make him a versatile defender who can play anywhere from the nose to the five-tech.
Though Josh is not a regular starter, he is a highly underrated contributor, working alongside Jaguars Pro-Bowler and former Cardinal, Calais Campbell, in 2014-16.
He’ll do the same with Damon “Snacks” Harrison—a run-stuffing, space-eater who will benefit stamina-wise with a steady rotation between him and Mauro.
