No. 4 – Receiving Corps & Dropped Passes

The Giants picked up right where they left off last season in terms of dropped passes. Big Blue led the league with 45 dropped passes in 2017.

With Odell Beckham Jr. returning from a season-ending ankle injury, the Giants are giving plenty of preseason snaps to players hoping to make the roster. Sharp and Raymond led the team with 27 snaps each against the Browns, according to Pro Football Focus.

Cody Latimer, Russell Shepard, Roger Lewis, and Jawill Davis also saw plenty of action in the team’s first preseason outing. The Giants already know Beckham and Sterling Shepard will be leading the receiving corps in 2018, but Big Blue is still waiting to see who else will emerge from the group.

Latimer has shown promise as a red zone option. Veteran receiver Russell Shepard has shown he can get separation against opposing secondaries. He caught two passes for 24 yards against the Browns and would have had another opportunity to make a big play for the offense. Unfortunately, Davis Webb was off target, giving Shepard no chance to catch the deep ball.

New York’s receivers will need to make the most of their snaps against the Lions. The depth chart behind OBJ and Sterling Shepard is still a work in progress.
