No. 4 – Kerry Wynn & Ray-Ray Armstrong Continue To Make Plays
Both Kerry Wynn and Ray-Ray Armstrong have shined for the New York Giants this preseason. They continued to do so on Friday night.
Armstrong led Big Blue’s defense with four solo tackles. The six-year veteran linebacker also made a key play on special teams, forcing a fumble on the kickoff coverage unit. He has made the most of his preseason snaps this August and started seeing first-team reps in practice this week.
Wynn also had another strong performance for the Giants. He finished the game with three tackles, two tackles for a loss, and a sack. Wynn is currently listed as a second-string defensive lineman on Big Blue’s unofficial depth chart, but as Shurmur noted earlier this week, he clearly doesn’t view him that way, via New York’s team website.
"“Well, he’s pretty multiple. He pass rushes on the interior of the defense. He can play the edge. I’ve been very pleased with what he’s done to this point and I’m looking forward to him having a really good year.” “Yeah, I wouldn’t consider him second-tier. I think, you know, he’s front-liner. He’s a good football player and he’s a big man, he’s long, and he can run. There’s a place in the world for guys like that.”"
Josh Mauro also made an impact with the second-team defense, recording two tackles and a sack. He faces a four-game suspension at the start of the regular season, but clearly brings an added presence to Big Blue’s defensive line.
