No. 10 – Pat Shurmur’s shelf life in Big Blue

There are some things to like about head coach Pat Shurmur, and some thing that are, let’s say, a work-in-progress. Shurmur’s interactions with his players seem to be his strength, while some in-game decisions have been questionable. I’m not ready to throw the baby out with the bathwater, but I also am concerned about the game planning we’ve seen. He hasn’t been shy about benching players who have not performed, but there also seems to be a plethora of correctable mistakes that continue to occur. I’m specifically pointing to three things: setting the edge on defense, 2. dropped passes, and 3. unnecessary penalties.
