No. 9 – Did we keep the wrong Webb?

Even before rookie quarterback Kyle Lauletta’s arrest, and subsequent performance against the Washington Redskins, I was perplexed (still am) at the decision to cut second-year quarterback Davis Webb. In some circles, there seems to be a rush to jettison everything that has Jerry Reese’s finger prints on it. I don’t understand that philosophy. An asset is an asset regardless of how it was obtained. There was certainly ample space in the quarterback’s room for Webb to see if he was worth the investment. Instead, the team opted to have journeyman Alex Tanney hold the clip board. Nothing against Tanney, but he’s 31-years old, and if there was something there, wouldn’t some NFL team have found it by now? Webb may ultimately wash out of the league, but it doesn’t seem he got a fair shot with the G-Men.
