4. player. 28. “In the absence of Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray, Haskins had the chance to create boatloads of separation between himself at the rest of the quarterbacks on the field [at the NFL Combine] on Saturday. He simply didn’t. Haskins’ saved his workout by dominating the post-and-go route where he frequently was right on target and made two very strong throws.” — NJ Advance Media. Quarterback. Ohio State. Dwayne Haskins

About a month ago, nearly every scouting service had Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins going to the New York Giants. In fact, Big Blue sent a large contingent to Columbus to scout and have dinner with Haskins at the Ohio State pro day. Chances are those optics weren’t just subterfuge by Big Blue, but instead a healthy dosage of due diligence. Giants general manager Dave Gettleman will feel an enormous amount of pressure if Haskins was still on the board at No. 6 overall, so we remove that dynamic with this hunch. Raiders head coach Jon Gruden would love to groom his own quarterback, and with Haskins he gets to do that. The Silver and Black have three first-round selections, are rebuilding, and aren’t expected to compete in 2019. It’s a dream scenario for Haskins and Gruden.
