No. 4 Option: The quarterbacks (Dwayne Haskins, Drew Lock, Daniel Jones)

Based upon comments made by New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman, it seems unlikely that the team grabs a signal-caller at No. 6, even if Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins remains on the board.

But never say never.

We’re also speculating that Kyler Murray (Oklahoma) gets scooped up by the Arizona Cardinals at No. 1 overall. With three first-round draft picks, the Oakland Raiders just may jump at the chance to grab Haskins.

As far as the Giants go, Gettleman keeps preaching about not drafting for need and reaching for a pick. We should take him at his word. Quite frankly, there isn’t enough “there” to grab Haskins this early, especially when other defensive stalwarts are available. It also seems like Big Blue is honing in on Duke QB Daniel Jones, and he may be an option at No. 17 or later.

Jones would be the ultimate reach with the No. 6 selection though.

There’s plenty to like about Missouri’s Drew Lock, but he also needs refinement, and that’s not effective use of a high draft pick. Each day, it appears more likely that the G-Men are passing on veteran Eli Manning’s successor here, and are committed to grabbing a defensive difference-maker at No. 6.
