No. 2 Option: We have a trade (Cincinnati Bengals, Miami Dolphins)

Wouldn’t it be great if New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman channels his inner Sonny Weaver. He shakes up the draft and pulls the trigger on a trade that moves him down in the selection order, but he secures extra picks in the process.

This objective can be accomplished by creating a bidding war between the Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals, and the most likely scenario can occur because both franchises may have quarterbacks on their respective minds. For the Bengals, that would mean bringing native son (sort of) Dwayne Haskins (Ohio State) into the rumble called the AFC North.

On the other hand, the Miami Dolphins finally moved on from mediocre Ryan Tannehill, but right now have journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick leading their offense. That’s not an optimal situation.

Because of that the ‘Phins find thmseleves in a more desperate situation, since Cincinnati still has veteran Andy Dalton under center. At stake are the No. 11 (Cincinnati) and No. 13 (Miami) overall draft selections, with which the G-Men can still select the likes of Ed Oliver (Houston), Montez Sweat (Mississippi State), or Christian Wilkins (Clemson), as well as grab other valuable assets.

Here are the trade proposals:

  1. New York Giants trade No. 6, No. 108 and No. 143 to the Cincinnati Bengals for the No. 11 and No. 42.
  2. New York Giants trade No. 6 to the Miami Dolphins for the No. 13 and No. 43 selections in the draft.

Let’s see how this shakes out.
