No. 2 – Evan Engram

Perhaps, tight end Evan Engram was the victim of too much hype after being selected by the New York Giants with the No. 23 selection of the 2017 NFL Draft. After ignoring the tight end position for much of his tenure as general manager Jerry Reese then dumped a load of expectations onto the lap of Engram.

It’s not that he hasn’t been good, but rather, much more is expected from the former Ole Miss Rebel, who ran his forty-yard dash in 4.42 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine. Even though we’ve been promised that he’ll create mismatches all over the field, that has not occurred.

Perhaps, without Odell Beckham on the filed, Engram will become a consistent target for Eli Manning this season. After all, Engram caught 22 of his 45 receptions in the four games that OBJ missed at the end of the 2018 NFL campaign, according to Pro Football Reference. Even so, we are still waiting for a break-out performance like Dallas Cowboys tight end Blake Jarwin had in the season finale, with nine catches for 119 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
