All eyes on these New York Giants receivers
By Curt Macysyn
No. 1 – Sterling Shepard
Without Odell Beckham in the offense, and a new long-term contract, the pressure falls squarely on the shoulders of wideout Sterling Shepard. According to the sports salary evaluation website, Spotrac, Shepard signed a four-year, $41 million extension on April 10, 2019. New York Giants fans may find that extension to be a bargain over the next four seasons.
Shepard played a full sixteen game schedule in 2018, and caught a career-high 66 passes with four touchdowns. Remember back to his rookie season when he grabbed eight touchdown passes, and he’s shown enough progress to give this coaching staff confidence that he should the top dog in this passing attack.
The major hang-up for Shepard this season will be his transition from the slot to the outside. In some respects, Shepard represents a clear, new paradigm for the New York Giants in the way he approaches his craft, as well as having a solid off-filed presence.
