No. 6: Mario Manningham, Wide Receiver, Super Bowl XLVI

Manningham was the 95th overall selection in the 2008 NFL Draft by the Giants and was lightly used as a rookie. In 2009, he was fully integrated into the offense and in 2010, he was on the verge of becoming a top flight wideout with 60 catches for 944 yards and nine TDs.

In 2011, Manningham was nagged by a knee injury and limited to 12 games. He had been relegated to third receiver behind Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz but was still a valuable part of the Giants’ offense. In the Giants’ Super Bowl XLVI  rematch with the New England Patriots, Manningham was targeted nine times, catching five for 73 yards.

But it was the third of his five receptions that would go down in Giants’ history. Down, 17-15, with the ball on their own 12 with 3:46 remaining, quarterback Eli Manning lofted a perfect pass down the left sideline to Manningham, who was covered by two New England defenders. Manningham reeled the pass in and managed to keep his feet in bounds for a 38-yard completion. Mannignham then caught a 16-yarder and then a 2-yarder as the Giants drove down the field for the winning score.
