Week 8 (Oct. 27) – @ Detroit Lions, 1 p.m.

I don’t believe this is the lay-up game that many other Giant fans believe it to be. I assume Matt Patricia will have this team playing at a much-higher level this season, with Matt Stafford getting back on track. Damon Harrison always gives his all, but I envision him having one of his best games of the season against his former team. If Saquon has a weakness, it’s running right up the middle.

Ford Field is a difficult place to play when the Lions are in the hunt, which I expect they still will be at this juncture. The NFL season is a long, crazy road that takes unexpected turns – I see one here for the Giants – and  I don’t have them escaping Detroit with a win. 5-3 would be a terrific start for this team, but 4-4 wouldn’t be awful by any stretch. It would mean we’d at least be playing some meaningful games in the second half of the season – something I would sign up for right now.

Prediction: Loss

Record: 4-4
