Is there a trade market for Eli Manning?

Jacksonville Jaguars

I’ll start off with the one that has been the most commonly-rumored destination for Eli Manning, the Jacksonville Jaguars. The main reason many have speculated Eli playing for the Jags is obviously his close relationship with his former coach, Tom Coughlin. Coughlin is now in charge of football operations in Jacksonville, and clearly has intimate knowledge on just how good Eli Manning is, while seeing first hand what he can mean to a team in a big spot.

The Jaguars have been a very good team for a few years now, but quarterback play has seemed to be the one thing that has held them back from a Super Bowl run. The Jags thought they had solved that problem when they signed another former Super Bowl winning quarterback in Nick Foles this off-season.

Unfortunately, Foles went down with a broken collarbone in his first game with his new team and is expected to miss up to two months of action, setting up his potential return to be well into the second half of the season. By that point, the team could conceivably be out of the playoff picture, as they already are 0-2. Rookie Gardner Minshew has played admirably, but i’m betting he starts to look like the sixth-round draft pick that he was sooner rather than later.

It would be a real shame to see Jacksonville’s ‘Super Bowl window come and go without them doing everything they could have to reach the big game. The move would likely only cost them a mid-to-late round draft pick and ten-million dollars, so why not take a shot? If Eli rights the ship and has them in the mix when Foles comes back around Thanksgiving, he would become even -more valuable as a reliable back-up for an injury prone Foles come crunch time.
