1st round selection (3): Chase Young-Edge Rusher, Ohio State University

In my mock draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select quarterback Joe Burrows out of LSU with the first overall pick in the draft. Meanwhile, the Washington Redskins look to replace outgoing tackle Trent Williams, while trying to provide protection to last year’s first round selection, quarterback Dwayne Haskins, so they opt to draft Andrew Thomas out of Georgia with the second pick. As a result, the New York Giants are gifted the best player in this year’s draft, Chase Young.

It’s hard to remember as much chatter during an NFL season about a non-QB going to a specific team as we’ve heard with Young and Big Blue, but it’s for good reason. Young is an extremely gifted pass rusher, who is absolutely disruptive on the defensive side of the ball. At 6’5″ and 265 pounds of pure athleticism, he has the ability to completely take over a football game, by completely stifling the offense. The Giants have been void of elite pass rushing talent since they had Osi Umenyiora, Justin Tuck and Jason Pierre-Paul on their defensive line nearly a decade ago.
