5th round selection: Calvin Throckmorton-Offensive tackle, University of Oregon
The New York Giants look to further shore up the issues with their offensive line, both immediately and for the foreseeable future by selecting another tackle in Calvin Throckmorton. Throckmorton, who has been tasked with protecting likely first-round selection QB Justin Herbert, would be an excellent late addition to the struggling Big Blue offensive line.
Throckmorton possesses excellent technique, good hands, as well as strong instinct and a high football IQ. He isn’t an elite athlete at the position and may be better suited to eventually move the 96-guard or right tackle position. Given the positional flexibility of the 6’6″, 310 pounder, it is a solid selection that helps provide much needed depth on New York’s offensive line.
