With the 193rd overall pick the New York Giants select…Eric Stokes, cornerback, Georgia.

Stokes brings good size at 6’1″ and 185 lbs to a smaller cornerback group that struggles with size, as indicated by Mike Evans’ 190 yards and 3 touchdown day versus the Giants back in week three. A starter for SEC power Georgia, Stokes brings a great blend of size and athleticism that would be valuable to develop.

One phrase by The Draft Network’s Joe Marino sums up his negatives “A track star that is built like one.” Marino is referring to Stokes’ track background in high school, where he ran a 10.39 in the 100-meter dash, which still stands as his high school’s record in that event. He is also referring to his slim build, which can somewhat negate his primary role in the NFL: covering big receivers. Despite this, with his elite athletic background, this pick makes more than a little sense this late.
