2. LB Jamie Collins
Jamie Collins would be a great fit for the NY Giants’ defensive system as a hybrid linebacker that can both rush the passer (7 sacks) and drop in coverage (seven passes defended), while also grabbing three interceptions. The Patriots LB even led the league in linebacker coverage grade through the first seven weeks of the season.
He quietly had a resurgence with his old team in 2019 and would provide a cheaper and reliable presence off the edge. Spotrac places Collins’ value at 8.8 million per year, which is a little expensive, but not a bad price for someone who will know of a lot of principles from Patrick Graham’s system. Collins also put up a 76.5 PFF grade, his highest since 2015.
In the end, Collins brings a smart, versatile veteran player to the NY Giants defense that they need, should they ditch Markus Golden.
