The two core Patriot special teamers recorded nine and ten special teams tackles each respectively in the 2019 season, and Joe Judge will undoubtedly want to take one of his best special teams players from his old team to the NY Giants.

Which one will depend on the Patriots, who will likely take steps to bring back one of the multi-time special teams Pro Bowlers. Slater will be 35 at the start of the 2020 season and is likely in the twilight of his career – one that has featured a remarkable eight Pro Bowl selections, including in 2019.

He should still be a reliable special teamer and probably would enjoy ending his career with his special teams coordinator of the last five years. As for Bethel, he presents a bit more upside than Slater does at this point as he will be five years younger at the start of the 2020 season and is a three-time Pro Bowler. Bethel has also extensively played cornerback for the Cardinals earlier in his career so he brings value as depth there as well.

Whichever player the NY Giants may end up targeting, I think a special teams reunion between one of these two guys and Joe Judge is likely in East Rutherford.
