1. Antoine Bethea

This one should be the easiest of the bunch, as the 35-year-old veteran safety was by far the weakest link in a putrid 2019 NY Giants defense. Signing the 13-year vet always seemed like a puzzling move considering Big Blue finally seemed to be heading towards rebuilding and is another example of Dave Gettleman making conflicting moves that don’t adhere to a plan.

As curious as a move as it was, it wasn’t a very costly one. Antoine Bethea inked a 2/$6.5M contract with $3.75M guaranteed last offseason. After being beat like a drum on so many big plays in his free safety role, there appears to be almost zero chance that the former Pro Bowler will be back, even at his small $2.8M cap hit.

Luckily, Gettleman only guaranteed the would be 36-year-old 125K in 2020. Julian Love figures to slide into the starting free safety role, and Bethea is likely headed towards retirement.

2020 Cap savings: $1.05M

Chance it happens: 90%
