8. Edge Dante Fowler

Yet another player still young in his NFL career, Dante Fowler represents possibly the most intriguing edge player in terms of risk/reward for the NY Giants. Injuries and scheme misfits have held Fowler back from the type of potential you’d typically expect from a #3 overall draft pick.

Still, Fowler’s 27.5 sacks in only four healthy seasons – and 11.5 in 2019 – display the type of massive potential Fowler possesses. The Rams saw enough out of the former Florida product to invest $12M over one-year to give himself a chance to prove his worth, and prove his worth he did.

A 3/4 defense seems to be the type of scheme that fits Fowler best. Agile, quick and powerful, Fowler can run around tackles when he has an extra step on them. His true contract value is unknown at this point, as it wouldn’t be out of the question for him to obtain either a top-level contract or another type of prove-it deal in 2020.

Either way, the NY Giants should be in contact with Fowler’s representation. Just 25-years-old, Fowler fits our profile as having his best football theoretically left in front of him. It’s also worth noting that he was in a 3/4 scheme in 2019 when he saw his best results as a pro.

Chance it happens: Moderate

What could it cost: 3 years/$39M
