The New York Giants use their fifth-round selection to shore up another major hole on their roster when they select a center, Nick Harris, out of the University of Washington. While there were better options available at the center position in Cesar Ruiz, Tyler Biadasz, and Lloyd Cushenberry III, all of those players are likely gone by the end of the second round and the center position seems to be too much of a luxury spot to fill that early for the Giants.

Despite not being quite up to the level of Ruiz, Biadasz, and Cushenberry, Harris is no slouch at the center position. The major knock against him is that he is a bit small for the position at just 6’1″ and 293-pounds. However, with the right focus from the strength and conditioning coach, he has room to add to his frame.

What Harris lacks in size, he makes up for in athleticism. Harris has extremely quick feet, is explosive getting to the second level, and is extremely mobile. He could be an ideal candidate to be used in pulling situations along the line, as Jason Garrett looks to utilize his athleticism.

By adding Harris, the Giants completely upgrade their offensive line that was so atrocious in from of both Eli Manning and Daniel Jones last season, allowing 43 sacks on the season. With Harris at center, the Giants starting offensive line is now Nate Solder, Will Hernandez, Harris, Kevin Zeitler, and Tristan Wirfs.
