RD 6: OG Solomon Kindley

If the New York Giants have learned anything over the past decade of futility, it should be that you can never have too much viable depth along the offensive line. As a result, Big Blue uses their sixth-round pick to select Solomon Kindley out of the University of Georgia.

Kindley served as the left guard next to Andrew Thomas on the Georgia offensive line. He represents a powerful interior line prospect that the Giants can develop as a rotational piece on the offensive line in the near term and a starter in the long term.

At 6’4″ and 340-pounds, Kindley is a mauler on the interior of the offensive line. Kindley is adept in run blocking schemes due to his massive size and power but also provides excellent pass protection due to a strong base.

If Kindley hopes to stick in the NFL, he may ultimately need to shed some weight in an effort to become a bit quicker and more nimble. He also needs to develop more technique to go along with his massive size, as size alone won’t allow him to win in the trenches in the NFL as it did at the collegiate level.

Still, there is a lot to like about Kindley in the sixth-round, even if it is just as a backup guard with the Giants. The Giants could do worse than Kindley as a backup guard behind Will Hernandez, Kevin Zeitler, and Cameron Flemming. The offensive line is also much deeper now with Solder, Hernandez, Zeitler, Harris, Wirfs, Flemming, Nick Gates, Kindley, and Spencer Pulley.

With the offensive line completely rebuilt with the selection of Kindley in the 6th round, the New York Giants use the first of their four seventh-round selection to pick:
