RD 5 (150th): Malik Harrison ILB – Ohio State

Following our basic premise of adding players from mostly elite college programs, Malik Harrison would slide right into the NY Giants’ inside-linebacker group with a real chance to make an impact on day one.

We are all hoping that Ryan Connelly goes through a smooth recovery from his ACL tear, but just in case, we’ve got another potential rookie dynamo on our hands here in Harrison.

A high school quarterback and a former top-50 “athlete” recruit at Ohio State, Harrison found his niche as an uber-athletic linebacker at Ohio State that culminated with a third-team All-American selection in his senior year.

Harrison led the Buckeyes in tackles in both his junior and senior campaigns, and his senior campaign saw him round out his game while adding 16.5 TFL, 4.5 sacks and 4 passes defended. He’s a legit thumper that can change the tide of a game with a single hit.

Even with the addition of Blake Martinez in free agency, Big Blue is lacking linebackers that can really cover for the most part.

Malik Harrison fixes that on day one.
