Sleepers with Connections (to the Giants Coaching Staff):

All of the NY Giants free agent signings had a connection or experience with someone on the coaching staff. In uncertain times, the Gettleman will side with familiarity. The following players are late round sleepers that have a decent chance of being on the G-Men radar.

Robert Windsor- DL, Penn State

Windsor was coached up at Penn St. by Sean Spencer, the Giants new defensive line coach. An ultimate motor guy, the Nittany Lion never took a play off in the Big Ten. Despite being undersized for an IDL, Windsor was able to master the use of wrist control inside and make life difficult for offensive linemen.

Would he have a chance to make a Giants roster loaded with interior defensive linemen? I think so. He is the kind of guy coaches love and his effort is contagious.

Daniel Bitulli- LB, Tennessee

Will the NY Giants draft a Tennessee player? It seems likely. Their new inside linebackers coach and strength coach both come from the college program in Knoxville.

Bitulli, an old-school middle linebacker, is someone coach Sherrer and Fitzgerald are probably pleading Gettleman to look at. He might lack in speed, but he was the alpha of their defense and found ways to make plays. Bitulli is a beast against the run and diagnoses plays quickly.
