Reason #5-We need to invest heavily in the defense!

Before the tagging Leonard Williams and singing James Bradberry and Blake Martinez in free agency, our highest-paid defensive player on the roster was Dexter Lawrence (a rookie last year.) We need to start investing more resources into the defensive side of the ball. We need to start winning games with our defense again.

When was the last time the NY Giants had a true playmaker at the linebacker position? It might be 2001, when Jessie Armstead helped the Giants reach Super Bowl XXXV. The G-Men built a linebacker legacy with players like Lawrence Taylor, Harry Carson, and Carl Banks.

The best player in the draft, in my opinion, is a linebacker that the Giants should not be passing up on. Isaiah Simmons can help bring an identity to the defense and be the perfect versatile building block for Patrick Graham’s versatile defense. The way Graham used his linebackers in Miami in 2019 could demonstrate how he would use Simmons all over the defense.

How will I react if the Gettleman ends up choosing an offensive lineman over Simmons? I will be disappointed but would understand the logic behind it. I also think that we would regret passing on Simmons for years to come.
