Penn State EDGE Yetur Gross-Matos:

Elite athlete.

Those are the words that define Gross-Matos off the edge. His length and athleticism guided him to nine sacks in 2019 as a Nittany Lion at 6’5″ 266 pounds with ten-foot broad jump. While not a traditional 3-4 outside linebacker, Gross-Matos as the athleticism to play as a stand-up rusher and thrive.

The main issues he has are with his rush package. Gross-Matos is still developing his skill set as a pass rusher and will need a bit of time before he can provide a notable impact off the edge. Until then, his beforementioned length and athleticism can carry him into early production with effort sacks and great jumps off the edge against slow-footed tackles.

His 34 7/8 inch arms help him to lock out defenders and read the backfield on zone plays. He does not have the strongest power element to his rush either and needs to get a bit stronger.

Regardless, if the NY Giants can snag Gross-Matos with the 36th pick, they’ll have a dynamic rotational rusher than can be an impact player in year two.
