NY Giants: 5 Best available prospects for RD 2 of NFL Draft (part two)
By Ross O'Keefe
Baylor WR Denzel Mims
Explosive as hell.
Mims presents a lethal height-weight-speed combination that has NFL Draft evaluators drooling. The 6’3″ 216 pound Baylor Bear ran a 4.38 forty at the combine and opened a lot of eyes to his athleticism. If he was more polished as a route-runner, we would not be talking about him right now, he would be long gone.
Instead, New York will have a shot at adding Mims to a receiving group that already features Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton, and Golden Tate. Why add Mims to such a seemingly deep group?
Well, Tate may be on his way out soon as a 32-year-old and it would be useful to have insurance in case Darius Slayton’s rookie season was a mirage. Also, this wide receiver group in the 2020 NFL Draft is historically deep, so it would not be shocking to see the NY Giants take a long look at a few of them.
Mims should offer quarterback Daniel Jones another explosive vertical weapon bare minimum.
