3. Offensive firepower

Playmakers are a quarterback’s best friend, and heading into 2020 it could be one of the biggest reasons for Jones putting together a great sophomore season.

Manning nor Jones got to run the offense at full firepower last season, as Tate, Barkley, Engram, and Shepard never took a single snap on the field at the same time.

Tate’s suspension and constant injuries are to blame, but in their absences it allowed for Darius Slayton to have a breakout year and emerge as a potential WR1 going forward.

Heading into year two, Jones will have a hungry Saquon Barkley in the backfield, a healthy (for now) Evan Engram playing in a “prove-it” year, an emerging star in Darius Slayton out wide, the YAC King in Golden Tate, and one of the best slot receivers in the NFL in Sterling Shepard at his disposal.

The key here is obviously for them to stay healthy, but if that core group can, it is easily one of the best overall collection of offensive skill players on any team in the league.

It also shouldn’t go unmentioned the impact that the emergence of tight end Kaden Smith and the off-season signing of running back Dion Lewis will have, as both add great value in their blocking and pass-catching abilities when on the field.

There’s no doubt that this franchise is still rebuilding and probably won’t be legitimate contenders for another year or two, but there’s also little doubt that Big Blue isn’t heading in the right direction.

The future of the franchise is in the hands of Daniel Jones, and with Eli gone, the offensive line beefed up, and all his weapons back, the future looks pretty good.
